Based on the integral transformation method with which the combinatory integral transform of the displacements and the combinatory integral transform of the stresses are presented, the three- dimensional (3-D) non-axisymmetric governing dynamic equation in the Biot's theory of two-phase medi7um is solved. Integral solutions with the soil skeleton displacements and pore pressure as the main unknown quantity are obtained.

China's iron and steel industry, the world's largest in terms of output, is still striving to increase capacity. The country's raw steel output first exceeded 100m tonnes in 1996, and reached 152.3m tonnes last year, up 16.2% year-on-year. Output will probably approach 180m tonnes in 2002. This sharp growth has been caused by a wave of capacity expansions in recent years, and even now many steelworks are building or expanding blast furnaces and converters. The Beijing-based Capital Steel (Shougang) may be the only exception ― it plans to cut production by 2m tpy to 6m tpy in 2005.
